‘Dialogue in Transitional Justice: Conceptual Approach and Ukrainian Experience’ — Tetiana Kyselova
Monday, 02.11.2026, 4–6 p.m. | Hybrid format | What role can dialogue play in achieving transitional justice during an ongoing war? And how can it help Ukrainian society address divisions, rebuild trust, and shape a shared future?
Drawing on international practices and Ukraine’s experience following Russia’s full-scale invasion, the lecture explores how professionally facilitated dialogue can complement judicial mechanisms of transitional justice. It examines the role of dialogue in inclusive public consultations, policy development, and strengthening social cohesion, while addressing challenges such as collaborationism, accountability for war crimes, and collective trauma.

Tetiana Kyselova is Associate Professor of International Relations at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy and Director of its Mediation and Dialogue Research Center. Since June 2025, she has been a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at the Institute for Conflict Management at European University Viadrina. With over 20 years of experience in mediation, dialogue, and peacebuilding, she has advised Ukrainian civil society, government institutions, and international organisations.
