Beyond the Nation: Minorities, Identities and Ukraine’s European Future

Robin Wagener is a member of the German Bundestag for Alliance 90/The Greens and has served in parliament since 2021. He is a member of the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committees and chairs the German-Ukrainian Parliamentary Group. A trained lawyer and former social court judge, his political work focuses strongly on foreign and security policy, Ukraine, and Germany’s relations with Eastern Europe.

Sarah Reinke is Managing Director for Human Rights at the Society for Threatened Peoples (Gesellschaft für bedrohte Völker, GfbV). She studied history, Slavic studies and American studies and has worked on Eastern Europe and the post-Soviet region for many years. Her areas of expertise include minority rights in Ukraine, particularly the situation of Crimean Tatars and Roma, as well as human rights and the consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Oksana Mikheieva is Professor of Sociology at the Kyiv School of Economics. She has worked at academic institutions including Donetsk State University of Management, Ukrainian Catholic University and Europa-Universität Viadrina, and has held research fellowships at the Ukrainian Research Institute at Harvard University, the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM), the Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS), and Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. Her research addresses migration, war, forced displacement and transformations of Ukrainian society.
